OPALIZED CLAM SHELLS   (Opalo almejas conchas)

A beautiful set of opalized clam shells from the Coober Pedy mine in Australia, famous for it's many different opalized sea fossils. These fossil clam shells replaced by precious opal while in the sandstone matrix have been carefully polished to remove the sand grains and the rough surface while retaining their original distinct shape.

Solid opal material with a lusterous glow, the second largest shell has a heavy dusting of blue multicolored pinfire covering one side of the shell. Will make for some excellent jewelry or display specimens for the collector.
