OPALIZED CLAM SHELLS   (Opalo almejas conchas)

A beautiful set of opalized clam shells from the Coober Pedy mine in Australia, famous for it's many different opalized sea fossils. These fossil clam shells replaced by precious opal while in the sandstone matrix have been carefully polished to remove the sand grains and the rough surface while retaining their original distinct shape.

Semi-transparent with a lusterous glow, the largest shell has a couple pinpoints of green and orange fire. Will make some excellent jewelry or display specimens for the collector.
